Q.

My son is 5 years 4M old. As soon as his teeth were out, they started decaying also. Due to tooth ache and decay we had to get 4-5 teeth extracted by the time he was less than 3. For more than a year he has given up feeding bottle, brushes his teeth both in morning and night and rinses his mouth after meal. Yet, decay continues, though at much lesser pace. kindly suggest what should we do.

A. Hello caries mainly occurs due to use of more sweetened products in diet and improper oral hygiene. if you are maintaining the oral hygiene properly but at the same time not controlling the diet, caries will progress to other teeth surfaces. you can use fluoridated toothpaste such as kidodent twice daily in pea size amount with small head soft bristles brush.

A. Bacteria in the mouth feed on sugars from foods and drinks. These bacteria produce acid, which damages the outer surface of the tooth (the enamel). Saliva helps to repair this damage, but if over time there is more damage than repair, it leaves a cavity or 'hole' in the tooth.frequent snacking, sipping sugary drinks and not cleaning your teeth well.
