Q.
my son is 1.5 months old but still there is white mucus discharge from his belly buton, i consulted with my pediatrician he told me that this is root of umbilical cord which secrets musus and i need to apply salt on it so this will fall off so should i apply salt on his belly button i m bit worried

ExpertDr Bandana JoshiAyurvedic Physician3 years agoA. Yes salt can ge applied over it as it squeezes it and heal the area and even neosporine powder can ge be sprinkled over it around four to five times in a day as it will dry it completely

The Doctor has given you a right advice of cutting the salt in belley bottom. It improve the condition of discharge but in my son's case neosporin powder relieved my son from the discharge completely. Apply this powder 7-8 times in a day n you will see marvelous results.

Nothing to be a worried about. You can start with putting just a pinch of salt. And see how mbaby reacts. If still feels uncomfortable then ask your doctor for any ointment yo be applied
