Q.

My kid is 2 yrs and 9 months old still he is not taking his thumb out of his mouth often he keeps it and we tried many ways to bring him out of that habit. can u suggest any option#asktheexperts

A. Thumb sucking in infants is a very normal phenomenon and its called mouthing reflex and nothing to be worried about it just maintain proper hygiene and with time this thing will go . In the toddlers thumb sucking habit is also seen many a times which could be phycological cause and feeling of insecurity or some stress . Just try to make the child comffortable and divert in some activities also spend good tgime with the child . In extreme case withdrawal can be tried with some solution available which are bitter like femite lotion . It needs to be applied locally .

A. thumb sucking habit as the baby gets addicted it becomes difficult to stop you should start restricting the baby doing so as you notice distract and divert maintain a behaviour chart add star and smiley as baby listen to you
