Q.

my daughter is 22 months old having caugh and cold from past 5 days. we consulted a pediatrician and continuing with medicines. One of the medicines given was Ventryl syrup. When she caughs the phlegm is not coming out ..and if it comes out she is swallowing it. My question is is there any other medicine which can make the mucus/phlegm thinner so that it comes out easily? also should I continue Ventryl for few more days? Appreciate your quick help on this..

A. can continue This can occur due to either allergy or infection and some times due to weather changes around the child. For cold you can give syp maxtra /wikoryl AF 5 ml to the child 2 to 3 times per day. (Helps in decreasing running nose and cold) Try to prevent temperature variations around the child and give nasal saline drops every three hourly. Indirect steam can also be given. For fever and pain give paracetamol Go for home remedies like Tulsi Ginger honey diluted with water cozmbination and turmeric with milk at least 2 times per day. Give warm water to drink. . For wet coughing you can give syrup ascoril LS 5ml twice daily to the child
