My baby is 9 days old his bilirubin count on day 4 was 11 … dr said that it’s normal.. but today at day 9 also his eyes are yellow and some yellow kind of thing is coming out of his eyes

A. At 9 days old, if your baby’s eyes are still yellow and there's yellow discharge, it may be due to prolonged newborn jaundice and possibly a blocked tear duct or mild eye infection. A bilirubin level of 11 on day 4 is generally normal, but if the yellowing persists, it's best to follow up with your pediatrician to check if the jaundice is resolving properly. For the eye discharge, gently clean with sterile cotton dipped in clean warm water and practice tear duct massage (as guided by your doctor). If discharge increases or eyes appear red or swollen, seek medical attention.
