Q.

My baby is 6.5 months old.. we started semi solids a month back.. so we feed him approx 75% of 1 boiled and mashed apple in the morning then at 3pm little bit of watermelon or Mausambi juice ( 50ml) followed by 6pm we feed him either rice daal mashed or mashed banana breast milk combo or mashed boiled carrot.. and I breast feed him as per demand… He has never vomited … am I feeding him too much?

A. if baby is comfortable and digesting well its ok give at least 3 hour gaps for adequate digestion and assimilation After your baby has completed 6 month of age, you can gradually start weaning foods. Keep in mind that weaning is a gradual and time taking process and baby takes time to switch to foods, other than breast milk. You can start with rice porridge, Ragi porridge. Also you can give mashed fruits like chikoo, banana, papaya, pureed Apple, etc. You should avoid giving animal milk to the baby before he is 1 year old and also avoid salt and sugar for him till that age. Simple homemade foods which are easy to digest fresh ,Cerelac nestum can be offered. keep giving water also after 6 month complete and breast feeding to be continued too.

A. hi mam ,each and every child is different and having own specific sleep and feeding patterns. so if a child is not showing any discomfort, looks happy and active, gains enough weight, achieve age appropriate milestones then no need to worry about it much.
