Q.

my baby is 17 months old,she doesn't speaks clearly..only says BABABA,PAPAPA,NANA & sometimes AAMMAA,NAa nothing else,i am trying hard to teach her mumma,nani,dadda e.t.c.but she doesn't..is this normal? seems she is learning late? is it?

A. hi...Although your baby is too young and may not understand what you speak at this point of time, it is important that you actively talk to your baby on a daily basis. Keep a continuous conversation on as you bathe him, feed him, or take him out. Talk to him just like you would do to any other member in your family. He will learn the essence of speech and will attempt to communicate with you in his own way. Do lots of sensory play...like water play, sand play, paper tearing, paper crumpling,playdough,rolling pin, all these help in activating brain cells which help in overall development of kids...speech development is also part of brain development. Also try to interrupt less when the kid is trying to talk...let them finish their sentences on their own.
