POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy6 months agoA. If your breastfed baby has not pooped for 5 days, it is usually normal, especially in exclusively breastfed babies. Breast milk is easily digestible, and sometimes, almost all of it is absorbed, leaving little waste to pass. Some babies poop multiple times a day, while others may go several days without passing stool.
However, if your baby appears happy, active, feeding well, and has a soft tummy, there is usually no need to worry. If the baby is straining a lot, has a swollen belly, or seems uncomfortable, you can try gentle tummy massages, bicycle leg movements, and giving more feeding sessions to stimulate digestion.
🚨 When to see a doctor?
If your baby shows signs of discomfort, excessive crying, a hard belly, or vomiting If the stool, when passed, is hard and pellet-like (sign of constipation) If there is blood in the stool
Most breastfed babies regulate their bowel movements naturally over time. Let me know if you need more guidance!
