Q.

My baby caught jaundice on 4th day of his birth by blood sample taken we came to know his billirubin was 19.4 , he was kept on observation by doing phototherapy we are worried by doing phototherapy does the jaundice get reduce overnight? After phototherapy he sleeps a lot and become difficulty to wake him up for feeding is it normal? and doing phototherapy does the jaundice get reduce?

A. Newborn babies are generally sleepy and when they are sick they tend to sleep even more. The bilirubin levels are very very high and the levels will not reduce immediately overnight it will take some timeWrite Your Answer Here

A. yes phototherapy does help to reduce jaundice levels ! sometimes Baby becomes lazy and sleeps more because they are tired ! new borns generally do have jaundice so no need to worry just feed the baby every two hours and keep track of potty color !
