Q.
my baby and myself has severe cold and cough.last week only cold gets cured.due to travel and change of place again she got cold.doctor gave tuscus and athakind drops to baby.will it cures?or should i want to give antibiotic for her? can i take medicines for my cold and throat pain during breast feeding?if so what medicine can i take

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed.
if any rfever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and hdthe dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
