POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy10 months agoA. It's quite normal for babies, especially at around three months of age, to wake up when they feel the urge to pee. At this stage, their bladder is small, and they don’t yet have control over holding urine, so the sensation of needing to pee can easily disturb their sleep.
When Will This Become Normal?
Bladder Control Development: Babies usually start developing more control over their bladder between 18 months to 3 years. By this age, they may be better at holding urine and may no longer wake up as frequently because of the need to pee.
What Can You Do in the Meantime?
1. Nighttime Diapers: Ensure your baby is wearing a good absorbent diaper at night to keep them dry and comfortable if they do pee while sleeping.
2. Comfort and Reassure: If he wakes up due to the sensation of needing to pee, try soothing him back to sleep by patting him or rocking him gently.
3. Establish a Sleep Routine: A regular sleep routine can help your baby fall back asleep more easily when he wakes up.
In time, as your baby’s bladder matures, this issue will likely become less frequent. However, it’s normal for young babies to have disrupted sleep patterns related to basic bodily needs like feeding, peeing, or discomfort.
