A. I'm sorry to hear your child is unwell. Vomiting in a one-year-old for several days could be due to various reasons, including: 1. **Gastroenteritis:** A stomach infection caused by a virus or bacteria. 2. **Food intolerance or allergy:** Reaction to certain foods or milk. 3. **Infections:** Such as ear or urinary tract infections. 4. **Overfeeding:** Feeding too much at one time. 5. **Motion sickness:** If the vomiting occurs after traveling. Here are some steps you can take: 1. **Hydration:** Ensure your child stays hydrated. Offer small sips of water, oral rehydration solutions, or clear fluids frequently. 2. **Diet:** After vomiting, avoid solid foods for a few hours. Gradually reintroduce bland foods like rice, bananas, applesauce, and toast. 3. **Monitor for Dehydration:** Look for signs such as dry mouth, lack of tears, or reduced urine output. 4. **Avoid Certain Foods:** Avoid giving fatty, greasy, or spicy foods until the vomiting stops. It's important to consult a pediatrician if: - The vomiting continues or worsens. - Your child shows signs of dehydration. - There's blood in the vomit. - Your child has a fever or other concerning symptoms. A doctor can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment based on your child's condition.
