Firstly accept the fact that some variation is acceptable as far as the child is active for his age and eating healthy diet.
You may enhance his meals by adding some high calorie foods or incorporating in some recipes such as Panner , dry fruits and nuts , milk , eggs , lentils like chana , rajma , rice - pulao , or with dals etc add ghee to his meals

grains and millets - 4 servings
pulses legumes/egg non veg: 1-2 servings
seasonal vegetables including green leafy vegetables: 1.5 serving
fruits - 1 serving
milk and milk products 500ml
sugar 4 tsp
oil 5 tsp
control intake of processed packaged foods.
