1. Teething - Permanent teeth might be erupting.
Treatment: Wait & Watch, If painful analgesic to relive pain.
2. Poor Oral hygiene - May cause plaque accumulation on teeth which irritates causing swelling.
Treatment :Oral Prophylaxis and maintenance of good oral hygiene.
3. Multiple grossly carious teeth causing periapical abscess.
Treatment: Root Canal treatment/ Extraction of concerned tooth.
4. Mouth breathing Habit- Causes gingival inflammation and swelling
Treatment: Lip exercises and Habit Breaking Appliance as advised by dentist

If treated early resolves spontaneously.
In advance cases if not treated may cause Periodontitis. Various studies have established scientific co-relation between Periodontitis and preterm labour and low birth weight babies .
Hence it is advised to consult your dentist and maintain good oral hygiene.
