A. For an 8-month-old, common teething symptoms include irritability, drooling, swollen or tender gums, a tendency to chew on objects, and sometimes mild fever. To comfort your baby, offer a chilled (not frozen) teething ring, gently massage the gums with a clean finger, or provide soft, easy-to-chew foods if they’re eating solids. For dysentery or diarrhea, which can sometimes accompany teething, ensure your baby stays hydrated by giving breast milk, formula, or an oral rehydration solution (ORS) if recommended. Avoid giving medications without consulting a pediatrician, who may suggest safe options if symptoms persist or become severe.
