Q.

Hi, My 3.5month old baby (born at 33 weeks 5 days) sometimes look at our faces (sometimes in eyes) while we speak to him and tracks us when we move around when we keep him on floor; but does not look at us when we hold him in hand. Can it be considered as Eye contact. Also, he looks at ceiling fan or lamps and smiles a lot, but rarely smiles when we make him smile.

A. Hi Father, how is your baby doing now?

A. compared to their 1st month, when they only focus on objects about a foot away, babies three or four months of age have better color perception and can start to make out other objects besides faces, like toys. by 4 months, they should also start to show more conscious behavior like reaching for their toys and smiling deliberately at you when you make eye contact. e babies might show a reflexive smile, grinning for no apparent reason, fromd birth, but between 4 weeks to 4 months, they'll develop a social smile, either responding to another person or trying to get someone else to smile at them.
