Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. Stool pattern of small children changes from time to time.
It can be more than 7 times per day also and sometimes the child will not pass stool for 10 days also.
The most important thing is the consistency of the stool and if it is Semi solid to solid or semi liquid then there is no need to worry about the frequency as well as colour as well as the smell of thex stool
Also straining and crying while passing urine and stool is very normal.
the crying of the child is due to colic pain and not due to constipation
POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. For a two-month-old baby, it can be normal for them to go a couple of days without passing stool, especially if they are exclusively breastfed. Breast milk is very well absorbed, which can result in less frequent bowel movements. Some breastfed babies may even go up to a week or more without a bowel movement and still be healthy.
However, here are some things to consider and observe:
1. **Consistency:** When your baby does pass stool, the consistency should be soft and not hard or pellet-like. Hard stools can be a sign of constipation.
2. **Behavior:** Pay attention to your baby's behavior. If they seem content, are feeding well, and do not appear to be in discomfort, it's usually not a cause for concern. However, if your baby seems very fussy, is straining a lot, or appears to be in pain, it might be worth discussing with your pediatrician.
3. **Wet Diapers:** Ensure your baby is having regular wet diapers (typically 6-8 per day), which indicates they are well-hydrated and feeding adequately.
4. **Feeding:** Monitor their feeding patterns. Any significant changes in feeding can affect their bowel movements.
If you have any concerns about your baby's bowel movements or overall health, it's always best to consult with your pediatrician for personalized advice. They can provide guidance based on your baby's specific situation and health needs.
