Q.
Hi everyone. my son is having fever since 9th August.We are giving xrocin ds 250 5ml after every 5 hours till yesterday. But his fever is not going down with crocin.So doctor prescribed augmentin and meftal p after 6 hours.But fever is 103.2 after 4 hours of taking meftal p 5ml.We are doing sponge also side by side. Please suggest any other solution and reason for the fever

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .
Lukewarm spongfge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine odutput monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
