Q.

Hi Doctor, my baby boy is 5 months old now..He is facing constipation problem..every one week only he can poo...So for that I'm giving milk of magnesium syrup to him...& also he is vomiting like curd..So is it ok in this summer or any advice to me..

A. normally hardness of the stool is not seen when you are giving only breastfeeding to the child. it is advisable to continue only breastfeeding and nothing else till completion of 6 months of age. if still the hard stool continues you have to visit the doctor to find the cause. but if you are giving formula milk then there is a possibility that the milk is not properly digested by the child and you will have to change the brand of formula milk. also do not give any food to the child except milk at this age. also milk of magnesia is not advisable at this age
