Q.

My baby is 4months 20 days old, she is going for poo once in 5 days. Urine routine is good. The poo is soft is it constipation. Let me explain clearly. I consulted a pediatrician and the doctor said it is constipation. And medicated a lacozoom usp solution 5 ml each day. We used the medicine for a week but I didn’t see any positive result. So we stopped using it . Now she is going for poo once in 5 days . Is it okay or I should be more careful about it. Let me know. Thank you

A. Constipation in Babies less than 1 year is very common and more in formula fed babies and also when initially the semi solid food has been starhkted after 6 months . you can give bonnisan drops and some enzyme preparations in proper dose suggested by doctor and cow's milk should be avoided before 1 year of age . Medications are required but it should be givecn only in medical supervision .
