hi doctor how long it will take for hand foot and mouth disease to cure...my baby is not sleeping wake up every 1hr and crying he is having cold and cough I'm giving medicine also...in foot the red spots are spread widely

Hand foot mouth disease is viral in origin and mostly symptomatic treatment is required because it is a self limiting disease and here fever come and small eruptions may be seengh in hands foot face and other parts of the body along with oral ulcerations so give plenty of liquids to maintain proper hydration and maintain a good hyghiene . Some multivitamin syrup along with antihistamine can be given . For oral ulcer dologel can be applied locally

It can sometimes take a week and sometimes more than that depending upon the severity of the situation I can completely understand your problem if there is too much of pain and irritation give a dosage of paracetamol and that is going to help your child sleep at least for 6 to 8 hours
