hello sir, my newborn is diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism with a tsh level of 60. doc prescribed eltroxin 50mcg for 13 days. is it correct dosage.

A. Hlo mom are you still using medication for hypothyroidism to your baby he is 1 year now right is he / she still on medication?

A. Hello, your baby boy is newborn and he is diagnosed as hypothyroidism so don’t worry his tsh is not normal so that the thyroid hormone eltroxin given is proper for

A. in case you are not able to trust your doctor then better to consult another doctor it is not good to have trust issues with your doctor also the doctor has advised the best for your baby

After 15 days when we checked tsh it was lowered to 0.16 uIU/ml. so doc lowered dose to 37.5mg. after 15 days we rechecked and tsh was 0.21mg. doc again lowered dose to 25mg. Q. #AskTheExpert my newborn was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism and we started medication from 5th day onwards with eltroxin 50mg. Now he is two months old. In between we rechecked tsh levels three times after reducing dose from 50mg to 37.5 mg and 25mg. the tsh level was at 0 uIU/ml all these three times and he was very active and gaining weight. so doc stopped medication. will tsh rises or thyroid decreases again after stopping medication in future?
