Q.

Hello sir I have a 3 month old son. He has a cold for 3 days. I showed it to the pediatrician nearby. But the cold is still there. Cefpodoxime proxetil oral suspension IP, Chlorphenoramine Maleate and Phenylephrine HCl Drops, Ambroxol HCL, Levosalbutamol & Guaiphenesin Drops. Given similar medications.Nebulizer can be given.Tell me if there are any precautions.

A. Cold is most of the time because of viral illness and if the child is having recurrent running nose and nasal congestion it may be a part of allergic rhinitis also so it needs a proper examination. steam inhalation will bge beneficial in both the cases alofdng with decongestant medicine like alex cold/ hatric 3/ sinarest. As a part of viral illness there could be associated symptoms like cough and fever which needs treatment accordingly along with a proper hydration needs to be maintained .
