Q.

Hello moms, My baby's birth weight is 2.6 kg. Now she will be turning 8 months in 5 days and weighs 6.8kg. She is very active. Is this weight ok ? Pl suggest foods to increase weight. Thanks in advance.

A. Dear mum, weight of 6.8 kg is a normal weight for 8 months old baby girl, do not worry. For healthy weight gain, give homemade balanced diet having variety of food groups especially seasonal fruits and vegetables even green leafy vegetables. You can give eggs and non veg foods. Add powdered nuts like almonds to baby’s food. Add ghee to every meal and squeeze lemon wherever possible. Use full cream milk to prepare recipes like porridge, kheer and give as milk products like curd, paneer, cheese. Continue to breastfeed.

A. Hello mom babies double up their birth weight by the age of 4 to 6 months and by one year of age they tend to triple their birth weight. You can now give him egg yolk c dry fruits and nuts , lentils and legumes , panner , ghee , millets , seasonal fruits and vegetables
