Hello Doctor, My wife 24 week pregnant and Doctor adviced her to go for Fetal Cardiac Echo. What is the importance of this test and is this compulsory?

A. hi mom it isdone in high risk pregnancy ... so u need to consult with the doctor for proper advice regarding this.. it is done to see for fetal heart anomaly

A. Fetal echocardiography allows your doctor to better see the structure and function of your unborn child's heart. It's typically done in the second trimester, between weeks 18 to 24. The exam uses sound waves that “echo” off the structures of the fetus's heart.
