Guardian of a 1 yr old boy1 Year ago
Q.

Hello Doctor, My baby boy is 6 days old. While getting discharged from the hospital, the paediatrician suggested to breastfeed the baby in every 2 hours for 20-25 min and then burp them for 10-15 min. My baby falls asleep in the middle of the feed in 10-15 min and does not wakeup even after trying many things. And then he wakes up in 30-45 min (sometimes even lesser than that) for another feed. This happens mostly in night time and sometimes during the day. Is this normal? Will it affect the baby’s growth if I only feed him for 10-15 min at a time? What should be done?

A. Which completely normal newborn kids behave like this only so please don’t worry about it you will see a proper gain with this also if your child gain a minimum of 500 g in a month it’s completely fine and normally in the initial time take feeding for 10 to 15 minutes only because latching capacity is not good they’re not very active in terms of feeding give it some more time things are going to be better within the time of a month or so
