A. A CT scan for a 3-month-old baby is generally safe if necessary, but it should be done only if prescribed by a doctor after evaluating the risks and benefits. CT scans use radiation, which may have long-term risks, especially for infants whose developing tissues are more sensitive. Precautions & Considerations: ✔ Only if essential – CT scans should be done only if critical for diagnosis. ✔ Use of low-dose radiation – Pediatric radiologists use minimal radiation for infants. ✔ Alternative tests – If possible, doctors may suggest an ultrasound or MRI, which do not use radiation. ✔ Sedation may be needed – Since babies move a lot, mild sedation might be required to get clear images. If your doctor has recommended a CT scan, discuss why it’s needed and if alternatives are available. Let me know if you need more guidance!
