Q.

#baby is having slight puffiness under one eye especially prominent post waking up be it in the morning or afternoon nap and it begins to subside post bathing or a couple of hours. It started post meningococcal vaccination when on the same day, she consumed a bit more sweets , the next morning, puffiness could be seen under her right eye. I made her consume more water and puffiness went off in 2 days then after a couple of days, she experienced nasal congestion and eye puffiness was back in both eyes, though very less under left eye. I gave her montair lc kid syrup and her nasal congestion was fine in 3 days but puffiness still persisted under her right eye.after around 6 days, she is again showing signs of nasal congestion since today morning. Pls suggest for under eye puffiness.

A. To help reduce eye puffiness in a 4-year-old, you can try the following strategies: ### **1. Ensure Adequate Sleep:** - **Consistent Routine:** Make sure your child is getting enough sleep each night and has a consistent bedtime routine. - **Quality Sleep:** Ensure their sleep environment is comfortable and conducive to restful sleep. ### **2. Proper Hydration:** - **Water Intake:** Ensure your child is drinking enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. ### **3. Healthy Diet:** - **Reduce Salt Intake:** Avoid giving your child too many salty foods, as high salt intake can contribute to puffiness. - **Balanced Diet:** Include fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals, such as cucumbers, which have a soothing effect. ### **4. Cool Compress:** - **Cold Cloth:** Apply a cool, damp cloth or a chilled cucumber slice over the eyes for a few minutes to help reduce puffiness. - **Eye Masks:** Consider using specially designed eye masks that can be refrigerated and applied to the area. ### **5. Allergies:** - **Allergy Management:** If your child has allergies, managing them with appropriate medication or avoiding allergens can help reduce puffiness. ### **6. Gentle Eye Care:** - **Avoid Rubbing:** Encourage your child not to rub their eyes, as this can exacerbate puffiness and irritation. - **Mild Cleanser:** Use a gentle, hypoallergenic cleanser around the eyes to avoid irritation. ### **7. Medical Advice:** - **Consult a Pediatrician:** If the puffiness persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, such as redness, pain, or vision changes, consult a pediatrician to rule out any underlying conditions. By implementing these strategies, you can help alleviate your child's under-eye puffiness. If the problem continues or worsens, professional medical advice will ensure appropriate care and treatment.
