Q.

#Askthexperts Hi, my 3 weeks old baby sleeps for 5-6 hours sometimes in night. is it okay to allow him to sleep or should I wake him up every 3 hours and feed him. I feel my breast are full by the time he wakes up and will become difficult for baby to latch for 10 mins until it becomes little less.

A. my baby used to sleep 5 hrs in night. when i consult with pediatrician, i was advised maximum 4 is fine but not more than that. so take him for feeding while he is sleeping after 4 hrs. once he gains proper weight, like in my case, baby doubled the birth weight at 5th month, then it was okay to feed on demand. still you should consult with doctor if your baby is healthy enough. Mine was 2.7kg at the birth and became 6.5kg in 5th month.
