A. rubbing of ear as well as itching of the ears is totally normal. if the child is not crying do not worry about it and to decrease the itching sensation you can apply coconut oil over skin of ear. do not use earbuds to clean the internal ear cavity. external ear can be cleaned with the help of clean cotton cloth.z treatment is given only if the child is crying with pain while itching. for pain you can give paracetamol. the most common cause would be due to either referred teething pain or due to dry skin of the ears.

A. Itching in a baby's ear can be caused by several factors: 1. **Earwax Build-up**: A common cause of itching is the presence of earwax. While earwax protects the ear canal, excess build-up can cause irritation. 2. **Dry Skin**: Dry skin or eczema can cause itching in and around the ears. If your baby has dry or flaky skin elsewhere, this might also affect the ears. 3. **Infections**: Ear infections, particularly in the outer ear (otitis externa), can cause itching. If your baby is pulling at their ear, is irritable, or has a fever, an infection might be the cause. 4. **Allergies**: Allergic reactions to foods, environmental factors, or products like shampoo and soap can lead to itching in the ears. 5. **Foreign Objects**: Sometimes, small objects or debris can get into the ear and cause itching. 6. **Teething**: During teething, some babies may experience referred itching or discomfort in their ears. ### What You Can Do: - **Check for Earwax**: Look for signs of excess earwax and clean the outer ear gently with a damp cloth. Avoid inserting anything into the ear canal. - **Moisturize**: If dry skin is the cause, use a gentle, baby-safe moisturizer around the ears. - **Avoid Allergens**: Identify and eliminate potential allergens, including new foods, laundry detergents, or bath products. - **Consult a Doctor**: If the itching persists or is accompanied by other symptoms like discharge, fever, or significant discomfort, it’s best to consult a pediatrician. For persistent or severe symptoms, a healthcare professional can provide a thorough examination and appropriate treatment.
