A. To help heal stitches after pregnancy (especially if you had a vaginal delivery with an episiotomy or tear), here are some gentle and effective remedies: Keep the area clean and dry – Gently wash with warm water after using the toilet and pat dry. Avoid harsh soaps. Warm Sitz baths – Sitting in warm water for 10–15 minutes a few times a day can reduce pain and promote healing. Use antiseptic spray or ointment – Your doctor may recommend an antiseptic spray or cream to prevent infection. Cold compress – Applying a cold gel pack wrapped in a cloth can reduce swelling and pain. Avoid straining – Drink plenty of water and eat fiber-rich foods to prevent constipation. Wear loose, cotton underwear – It allows air circulation and avoids rubbing on the stitches. Pain relief if needed – Paracetamol or ibuprofen (only if prescribed by your doctor) can help relieve discomfort. Always consult your doctor if there is increased pain, foul smell, or pus, as it may indicate infection.
