Q.

#asktheexperts my son is almost 4 month old now. he is suffering from cold and dry cough from 3 or 4 days . he is not drinking sufficient milk gets distracted easily. and from yesterday he is not sleeping properly.. he suddenly wakes up crying loudly and don't stop easily.

A. this can occurs due to weather changes and temperature variations or simple cold and rarely infection. kindly give nasal saline drops (nasoclear /nasivion s)every three hourly and since it is a salt water/saline water it does not have any side effects and can be given again and again for nasal blockage and respiratory cough. it will dissolve mucus in nose and throat. for fever and pain give paracetamol. anti-cold medicines at this aged have got side effects so can be given only after medical consultation. try to prevent temperature variations around the child and you can also give indirect steam inhalation and if there is nxo improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor

A. Siri could be due to discomfort so I would suggest you to go ahead with nebulising the child that’s going to help in opening up the nasal blockage passage of chest and throat it would be easier for the child to breathe and feeding is going to be better afterwards
