#asktheexperts Hi, my son is 2month n 27 days old and he is experiencing water discharge from his right eye. how can I stop this? Also on waking up after sleep there is a lot of dirt accumulated in that eye and sometimes it's stuck and he finds it difficult to open his right eye. please suggest some solution.

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. Eye discharge in newborns is common and often the result of a blocked tear duct. The blockage will usually clear up by itself within 4 to 6 months. However, newborns with eye redness, eye discharge, or excessive watering from the eyes should see a doctor to diagnose the cause and to rule out an eye infection.
