Most common colds are viral and don’t require medication. For fever, medication is usually given only if the child is uncomfortable or the fever is high, rather than automatically for every fever. For cold and cough, supportive care like plenty of fluids, rest and saline nasal drops can help. If symptoms are severe, persistent, or keep recurring frequently, it’s better to consult a pediatrician rather than giving medicines routinely.

For fever you should start giving medication to the child and for cold and cough if you want you can wait for two or three days but it’s actually very discomforting which is why in case of a small child suggested to start giving medicines from the beginning itself
