Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 6 m old boy2 years agoA. cough and cold medicine is given according to the requirement and examination so do not give any medicine without medical consultation. if given without consultation coughing medicine can aggravate the problem. you can go for home remedies like tulsi ginger (honey is added when child is more than 1 year of age) combination which can be diluted with water and given frequently to the child. also you can give turmericz with milk one or two times everyday. give warm water to drink as well as nasal saline drops frequentxly. give warm diet try to prevent temperature variations around the child that is from hot to cold and cold to hot environment .

Hi mom Cough and Cold along with the symptom like Fever loss of appetite irritability could be a feature of viral infection or seasonal flu where most of the time supportive treatment is given along with that cough expectorant and decongestant with antiallergic medicine given steam inhalation can be given frequently to relieve the symptoms nasal drops
