#AskTheExpert My son is 9months old and weighs 10kgs. Birth weight was 4.6 kgs... from past 3months his weight is increasing by 300 gms... this month only 200 gms... Is his weight gain healthy? what should i do to increase his weight?

A. While all babies may grow at a different rate, the following is the average for boys and girls 7 to 9 months of age: Weight: average gain of 1 pound each month; boys usually weigh about ½ pound more than girls; 2 times the birth weight by 4 to 5 months and 3 times the birth weight by 1 year.Foods like potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, dal, ghee, ragi, almonds, yogurt, eggs and milk help the baby to gain weight.
