Q.

#AskTheExpert My son is 2 years 3 months and he is not speaking till now. very occasionally he will say papa, maa aur chacha. he follows all the instructions. he is able to understand everything we say but can't speak when we ask him to repeat. is it a matter of concern for me or should I wait him to speak as the time goes?

A. it is ok for baby. Speech is a gradual process to become clear and good . You should talk more with baby and decrease any type of screen time like T . V or mobike screen . Also help of any speech therapist can be taken .

A. One thing we must remember is that some children speak a little late compared to many other children. However if you feel baby is talking very less then better to consult your pediatrician itself once who can personally see the baby and guide you. She can refer you yo a speech therapist if required. But what you must do at home is to talk to the baby and make sure the baby repeats after you. Repetition is the key in learning. You must make eye contact with the baby. Take the help of books and show him pictures and teach. This is a good way of learning.
