A. Frequent colds in a 6-month-old can be common, especially as babies are exposed to new environments and their immune systems are still developing. Generally, mild colds in babies resolve on their own without the need for medication. Symptoms like a runny nose, mild cough, and congestion are typically caused by viral infections, and these usually improve within 7-10 days. However, there are some steps you can take to help her feel more comfortable and ease her symptoms: 1. Keep Her Hydrated: Make sure she's drinking plenty of breast milk or formula, as fluids can help clear mucus and keep her hydrated. 2. Use Saline Drops: Saline nasal drops and a bulb syringe can help clear nasal congestion, making it easier for her to breathe and feed. 3. Humidifier: A cool mist humidifier in her room can help keep the air moist, which can relieve congestion and soothe her throat. 4. Elevate the Head: Elevating the head of the crib slightly (without using pillows) can help with nasal drainage and make her more comfortable while sleeping. When to Seek Medical Advice: While most colds resolve on their own, it's important to monitor for signs of complications. You should consult your pediatrician if: Her symptoms last longer than 10 days or worsen. She develops a fever (especially over 100.4°F or 38°C). She has trouble breathing, rapid breathing, or wheezing. She becomes very lethargic or is not feeding well. In most cases, frequent colds are just part of early development, but if you're concerned about her health, it's always a good idea to consult your pediatrician for guidance.
