The hernia sticks out when your child is sleeping, calm, or lying down and you can't push it back in.Lump in the groin near the thigh. Persistent crying in babies. A lump that is bigger when the child is standing or straining (such as crying or coughing) and disappears when the child is lying down or relaxed. Pain and tenderness.
