Q.

#asktheexpert my baby will turn 8 months tomorrow like I mention before in a question that he doesn't like to have solids then other thing I wanted to ask that can I give him salt and sugar as I read somewhere that these should be given after one year so is it ok to give it now because sweet and savere food is only possible if I add sugar or salt in it I found the substitute of sugar with jaggery but how to substitute salt.... please help

A. hi, better to avoid adding salt and sugar till one year..as it will affect your baby's developing kidney.. You can give different taste by adding Cummin powder, Curry leaves, coriender leaves, ajawain (carrom seeds), cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, garlic, nutmeg, jaggery, date puree, or boiled and pureed risings

A. hi as a child is 8 months old and not like to take solid food, it is ok. give food in well Mashed or lumpy form. Serve variety of food items from different food groups like vegetables, fruit, nuts, pulses, dairy products etc encourage your child by giving finger food like variety of fruits , roasted paneer , boiled veggies i.e carrot , potao , sweet potato etc
