#asktheexpert My baby is soon turning 6 months old.I have read somewhere that it while introducing solids to babies we should avoid salt and sugar...is it true? Should I start with semi liquid and then introduce solids to my baby?

A. Start with one solid meal or one semi solid meal per day initially and then increase gradually. You can start with any fruit puree or stewed apple or stewed banana or any one vegetable puree or clear vegetable soup or mashed carrot or rice porridge or rice Ka Pani or Dal Ka Pani. Please avoid adding salt or sugar to your baby's food till he or she turns one year old as baby's sodium requirement is very less which is met through breast milk or formula milk.
