#AskTheExpert my baby is one month old. she has green patches near her bum and near hip. is there anything to worry about?

A. birthmarks are very common in children and usually fade by one to maximum 2 years of age. if they are not increasing in intensity and number then there is no need to worry. you can consultt your doctor who will tell you regarding the birthmark and any complications if any which may be associated with it.

A. Mongolian spots (MS) are congenital birthmarks seen most commonly over the lumbosacral area. They are bluish-green to black in color and oval to irregular in shape. They are most commonly found in individuals of African or Asian ethnic background.
