#AskTheExpert my baby is 17 months. he is getting cold n cough easily n it is lasting for more days. already took treatment for pneumonia. can u suggest few light syrups for cold n cough safe for babies? his HB% is also less i.e., 8gms. so pls suggest some foods to improve his hb

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor accordingg to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetakimol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
