#asktheexpert My baby is 14 th months old. but he doesn't eat anything, and he still needs puree type food otherwise he gags. for this I have only limited options to feed but he doesn't eat anything whatever's I give him. also yes he is teething but otherwise also he has less appetite. any advice

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 6 m old boy1 Year agoA. Exploring of the mouth with hands and toys and encouraging feeding independence helps with diminishing the gag reflex. With positive reinforcement gagging can become a learnt behaviour. To prevent this avoid overreacting to the child's gagging response. Simply remove the piece of food and provide reassurance.
