#AskTheExpert My 24 month old boy is saying a few words now. But he still doesn't say mamma, pappa or address any other family member by name. He knows who is who as he can identify us when asked in photos. why is he not calling family members by name? is this normal.

A. Yes this is normal, Activities to Encourage Speech and Language Development Say sound like "ma," "da," and "ba." Try to get your baby to say them back to you.Look at your baby when he makes sounds. ...Respond when your baby laughs or makes faces. ...Teach your baby to do what you do, like clapping your hands and playing peek-a-boo.
