Q.

#AskTheExpert I would like to know from you regarding OPV & IPV. As per the hospital chart at 6th, 10th and 14th weeks there was no OPV scheduled. however as per the national immunization schedule OPV was mentioned at those visits. I knew that India is successfully eradicated POLIO. Whether OPV as per National immunization schedule or polio vaccination days is mandatory or not? please do provide your valuable guidance on this.

A. All the vaccination should be given according to the vaccination schedule whether the government or IAP schedule and you can discuss with your pediatrician regarding the details of the vaccination. Pulse polio immunization programme is provided by the government to all children below 5 years of age. if your child has received polio vaccine before as per the schedultre then also you should give this vaccine on the the pulse polio day as this is an additional vaccine. For polio vaccine dates and related query you need to contact your local authorities .

A. It Is not mandatory if you’re getting the vaccination is done from time to time but when you ask your doctor they normally say there is no harm getting a double back up done for the same so if you want and it is feasible for you then you get the job son and if you do not want to go ahead with it then also it is completely
