#asktheexpert Hi Doctor, My child is 31 days old. He is sleeping while feeding and not sucking. If I try to wake up. He wakes up, sucks for 4 to 5 seconds and then falls sleep. Due to this he hasn't gained much weight since birth. His Birth Weight was 2.6 Kgs and Weight on 28th day after birth was 3 Kgs. My paediatrician has suggested me to beat the baby and wake him up. But my child is crying on beating but sleeping after few seconds. He sleeps within few seconds after putting my nipples in his mouth. How should I keep him awake.
