#AskTheExpert Hi Doc my son is 5 yrs + but still he doesn't do potty by himself . He does not sits in pot and when we leave him once he sits he started to scream and is very scared . He does not co-operate with us so that we can make him learn to do potty training

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. potty training and toilet training should be initiated as soon as the child completes one and half years of age. avoid before that except if you feel that the child is giving cues when he or she wants to pass stool.
also good demonstration has to be given again and again to the child to reinforce the habit.
make the child sit on potty seat daily so that the child gets accustomed and not fearful of the seat and situation
kindly go through various articles on potty training on firstcry.
meteo doctor who will prescribe lexitives for few days which will help in improving the condition

you need to stop potty training for now.
try it after few days of it.
Never force your child for this.
make this transition gradually and stressless.
for that , you can tell stories or give positive reward like sticker of star smiles etc whenever your child uses Washroom.
buy special potty seat as per your child choice which may help.
