#AskTheExpert Hi doc. My child is 11 months old. He do potty after every meal. What can be the reason for that? Is that ok? his weight is not increasing. but it stays the same..8kg for the past 2 months.

A. mostly it is normal thing for a baby to go for motion after any diet but also it is a sign of any parasite infection so you can give syrup albendazole to be 5ml at night at this age

A. Hi dear good morning Check if baby is gaining adequate weight. In the initial 3 months, babies put on about 1 kg each month. From 3-6 months, weight gain reduces to 1/2 kg/month. from 6-9 months, it becomes 1/3, and for 9-12 months, it settles to 1/4 kg. the birth weight doubles in the 4th month and triples when they reach 12 months of age. Try to feed for longer duration. 15-20 mins each breast. This way baby will get balanced foremilk and hind milk. Foremilk comes in the beginning for 5-10 mins then comes the hind milk which is rich in fats and can help baby gain weight. So always empty a breast each
