#asktheexpert ! hello my baby is 22 months old and his weight is 14kg, he is having cold and running nose and water yes from last 2 days, can you suggest the dose of maxtra syrup to him. Thanks

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescrifbed.
if any fever is thtere paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
